Grade 5: £24,565 - £29,301 p.a. (with a standby payment at 3% basic salary plus additional remuneration for on-call work)

We are looking for a Research Technician to be based in the Human Islet Isolation Facility at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism (OCDEM), Churchill Hospital. The post holder will be able to take part in all aspects of the clinical islet isolation procedure and transplantation. There will be an opportunity to be involved in a research project on the correlation between pancreas donor variables and islet isolation/islet transplantation outcomes. In addition, the post holder will be a member of the on-call rota for the islet facility.

The successful candidate will be educated to A Level standard or equivalent in maths or computing science, with biological science or chemistry. You will be able to work well in a team, carry out tasks with accuracy and take a flexible approach to your workload. You should have good literacy and numeracy skills, and be able to communicate well with people at all levels. You will be willing to participate in the out-of-hours rota, and in return you will receive additional remuneration for work carried out during these times. Experience of islet isolation is desirable for this post.

Previous practical experience of working in a Laboratory will be essential, however full training will be provided for this role.

Available immediately, this full-time post is fixed-term until 31 March 2019 in the first instance. Contract extensions are renewed annually, subject to the availability of further funding.
