Lead the UK Provision of our World Class Science Facilities

Permanent (37 hours per week)

The Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH) is a world-class research organisation focusing on land and freshwater ecosystems and their interaction with the atmosphere. CEH is part of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) the leading funder of independent research, training and innovation in environmental science in the UK.

This role offers the opportunity to lead the management of CEH’s Estates & Facilities, Safety Health & Environmental (SHE) Management and Business Continuity supporting delivery for 460 staff and circa ~250 students, fellows and visitors across our four CEH sites (Wallingford, Lancaster, Bangor and Edinburgh).

The responsibility for Estates covers all Freehold and Leasehold management of the main CEH sites, capital investment, lease and Service Level Agreements (SLA) for tenants, plus lease and access agreements for numerous scientific field sites. Facilities responsibilities include the development and maintenance of fit for purpose building, plant and services in accordance with CEH needs, including statutory compliance and industry best practices.  Facilities services are provided through a mix of internal and contractor services.

To be successful in this vital senior management post at CEH you will need to demonstrate proven successful leadership and the delivery of Facilities Management in a scientific environment, with a track-record in proactive co-development of management practices with senior scientists.  Your staff leadership and performance management skills will be a key element to the success of the Facilities and Operations Service, alongside a committed, flexible, inclusive and motivated approach to deliver the highest quality service provision.
