Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Quantum Enhanced Imaging

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Quantum Enhanced Imaging in the Ultrafast Quantum Optics Group (UFQO) led by Professor Ian Walmsley. The post is available initially for a fixed-term duration of 12 months, with the possibility of extension for a further 12 months.

This project will experimentally demonstrate quantum-enhanced imaging protocols with scope to deploy these techniques outside a quantum optics laboratory.

The successful candidate will be responsible for defining, developing and executing research directed toward the attainment of quantum enhancements in sensing in the real world using methods of quantum optics and quantum information theory. The postholder will have the opportunity to teach.

Applicants should possess, or be close to obtaining a doctorate in physics or a related field and ideally a strong background in quantum optics. Previous experience in the field of quantum metrology or optical quantum information will be an advantage. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a record of research experience and the ability to contribute to the outlined research programme and whilst working in a team and independently.
