Reader/Professor in Cognitive Neuroscience

The School of Psychology are welcoming applications for the full time and ongoing role of Reader/Professor in Cognitive Neuroscience.

For Reader appointment: Grade 10: £58,655 - £62,218 per annum.
For Professorial appointment: Management and Professorial, starting from £63,287 per annum.

As Reader/Professor in Cognitive Science you will:

  • make a sustained and significant contribution to world-leading research, including high ranked publications, outstanding impact/public engagement, and research which enhances the international profile of the University of Kent’s School of Psychology;
  • provide vision and leadership that contributes to the academic progression of the School and the discipline; provide expert advice internally and externally including mentoring junior colleagues and willingness to engage in collaboration;
  • lead the development of new and innovative approaches to education, and to ensure an up to date curriculum and provision of Cognitive Neuroscience education.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • successful completion of world-leading and internationally excellent research including publication in refereed academic journals;
  • demonstrable fit with, and/or augmentation of, existing Cognitive Neuroscience research expertise in the School;
  • evidence of ability to obtain competitive research grants from UK research councils/other international sources (commensurate with stage of career).

School of Psychology
The School of Psychology overlooks Canterbury with a view of the cathedral. It is a leading centre of research and education with a commitment to scientific excellence, a concern for tackling problems of contemporary relevance and a commitment to have positive impact.

We currently have over 40 faculty members, 80 PhD students and a diverse range of externally - funded research projects that employ numerous post-doctoral staff. All are supported by an experienced Professional and Technical Services team.
