Research Associate

The University of Edinburgh - College of Science and Engineering - School of Informatics

The School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh, invites applications for a full-time fixed-term Research Associate on the “Delivering Agile Research Excellence” (DARE) project. This is a nine-partner H2020 project, led by Demokritos (www.demokritos.gr) to push the limits in scale, computation and complexity. The project will increase research agility by significantly improving the paths between research development and production. Edinburgh will design and pioneer the data-streaming architecture, building on its abstraction of data streaming, dispel4py, and on the provenance-powered set of tools, S-ProvFlow, led by KNMI (www.knmi.nl/home). The advances will deliver new research capabilities in computational seismology and climate modelling.

The Research Associate will join the University of Edinburgh team led by Professor Malcolm Atkinson, working closely with colleagues in EPCC, as well as drawing on advances in databases, scientific workflows, provenance and the application of intelligent systems.

The post is available from 1 January 2018 and is full-time and fixed-term for 18 months (the contract may be longer if the successful candidate chooses to work part-time hours).

Closing Date: 2nd February 2018 at 5pm GMT
