We invite applications for an academic position in Chemical and Process Engineering at the level of either Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. The Department offers a fully accredited (IPENZ and IChemE) 4-year undergraduate degree. We also offer minors in bioprocess engineering and in energy processing. In addition, the Department has a very active Ph.D. degree programme.

The successful candidate will develop an active research programme in bioprocess engineering, either in upstream or downstream bioprocess activities, which could include biotechnology or environmental bioprocesses. You will complement the Department’s present research activities, such as energy, catalysis, food processing and biotechnology but is not limited to these particular topics. You will also contribute to teaching in the bioprocess engineering minor along with traditional core chemical engineering subjects.

At Lecturer level, you will have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (or a closely aligned discipline), be able to demonstrate strength in research, and demonstrate a commitment to quality teaching.

At the Senior Lecturer level, you will be established as a researcher in chemical engineering and demonstrate a commitment to quality teaching. You will need a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (or a closely aligned discipline) and a strong record of publishing in internationally respected journals. For candidates with significant academic experience, you will also need to demonstrate an ability to attract and successfully supervise postgraduate students. For industrial candidates, staff supervision experience will be considered, along with a commitment to develop a successful teaching portfolio.

The successful candidate at either level will be encouraged to develop a strong, externally-funded research programme as well as be expected to collaborate with other academics in the Department’s teaching and research activities.
