Centre for Health Economics

With a research establishment of over 20 economists and a vibrant PhD program, the Centre for Health Economics is an internationally renowned institution that contributes to academic research and public policy in the economics of health and health care. The quality of our staff is demonstrated by our highly-ranked peer reviewed publications, our top-20 RePEc ranking in health economics, fellowships and editorial roles, and in our community impact.

We have a vibrant international visitors program, and have close links with the Departments of Economics and Econometrics, which contain almost 100 staff. These departments are ranked top-20 in cognitive & behavioural economics, experimental economics, and econometrics. We are also well connected with outstanding public health researchers in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.

The Opportunity

The Centre for Health Economics is currently seeking to appoint one or more enthusiastic research fellows to join a highly-motivated team. The research fellow will work closely with one or more of the senior researchers at the CHE on funded research grants, but they will also have the opportunity to develop their own research program, leading to potential future grant and fellowship applications.

Importantly, we provide time to researchers to develop high quality research, support international conference attendance, and offer mentorship and development opportunities.

The main duties of the research fellow will be to:

  • Assist in the conceptual development and implementation of a specific area of research;
  • Prepare research reports and academic papers;
  • Have limited administrative roles primarily connected with the area of research;
  • Participate more broadly in our portfolio of health economics research and teaching activities.

To be successful you will ideally have a Doctoral qualification in health economics, economics, or econometrics, and a high level of relevant applied economics expertise. You will be able to work both independently and as a member of a team.

Please indicate in your application which role you are applying for.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements can be negotiated.

Your application must address the selection criteria. Please refer to "How to apply for Monash Jobs".
