, School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences

This post is available to strengthen the academic base within the Centre, to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and to contribute to School and Centre administration/outreach activity.

We seek candidates whose research uses cutting-edge approaches to study epigenetic mechanisms during normal development and/or in disease. We welcome applications from candidates with interests in the functions and mechanisms of action of readers, writers and erasers of epigenetic modifications, and alterations in these processes in human disease and animal models, and description of genomic interactions involving regulatory DNA elements in single cells.

Candidates who have an interest in collaborating with both basic scientists and clinicians to explore the impact of epigenetics on human health and how to implement epigenetics-based therapeutic approaches are especially encouraged to apply.

The Centre provides an outstanding interdisciplinary and collegiality environment to answer major questions of human health by understanding the molecular mechanisms of disease. The Centre is an excellent hub for research on host-pathogen interactions, basic immunology, respiratory medicine and vision and vascular medicine; therefore providing unique opportunities for fast track translation of epigenetic discoveries into human health.

The Centre has access to core facilities including bioinformatics and high computing, genomics (including single cell analysis), imaging and biological services.

The successful candidate must:

  • Have a relevant Primary Degree.
  • Have a PhD in a related subject area.
  • Have a minimum of three years’ research experience at postdoctoral level in a relevant epigenetics/genomics field.
  • Have recent, relevant publications in peer reviewed/refereed journals that are recognised internationally as being high quality, commensurate with experience.
  • Have a research profile which complements the research priorities and strengths of the Centre for Experimental Medicine.
  • Have experience of developing research methodologies, models, approaches and techniques.

At Senior Lecturer level:
