Computing, Mathematics and Digital Technology is a large and successful School in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. It is committed to delivering high quality teaching, world leading and internationally excellent research and working with industry. The School made improvements in REF 2014 outcomes in all the units of assessments in which we submitted, and we are aiming to improve further the quality and volume of our research for the next research assessment exercise. The School has a long track record of securing grants from research councils, EU and government backed bodies like Innovate UK. The School works closely with employers, particularly in the region's vibrant digital sector, on wide range of exciting and innovative projects.

You will be an active researcher in applied Computer Science who would be able to contribute to research areas within the Informatics Research Centre. You will collaborate with colleagues at Manchester Metropolitan and maintain and establish new research links with the wider research community.

You will teach on foundation year, undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the School using pedagogic approaches that deliver a first class student experience and undertake high quality research and/or enterprise in a topic relevant to the School. You will receive support that will enable you to develop your research including applying for funding. You will teach in the area of Computer Science that is aligned with your research and expertise, but will also be expected to contribute flexibly to teaching.

We are seeking applications from individuals who have expertise in a research area that aligned to the areas within the Informatics Research Centre:

  • Cyber Security;
  • Intelligent Systems;
  • Networks and/or Distributed Systems;
  • Complex Systems;
  • Image/Video Analysis;
  • Data Science/Big Data;
  • Software Engineering.

You will have a PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline and have a well-defined research or enterprise plan.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to advancing existing research areas in the School and be capable of delivering a high quality student experience.

Salary: Grade 8 (£34,520 to £39,992) or Grade 9 (£41,212 to £47,722)
