Post-Doctoral Research Fellow – Laser Diagnostics of Spray-Gas Interactions in Exhaust Aftertreatment Systems

Full-Time, Fixed Term (36 months)

We are seeking to appoint a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow for an exciting opportunity to work on a new research project funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council as part of a consortium of academic and industrial partners. The research will be carried out in the Centre for Advance Powertrain and Fuels in the Institute of Energy Futures and the College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences at Brunel University London.

The post holder will carry out experimental work on the integration of fuel reforming and spray-gas interactions in the engine exhaust aftertreatment system by using a purposely designed optical exhaust flow set up and employing a range of optical and laser diagnostic techniques. We aim to obtain results that will guide the design of fuel reforming and exhaust aftertreatment integrated systems. These novel systems will help industry to attain forthcoming emission regulations and contribute to reduced road transport emissions and cleaner environment.

The successful applicant should have a PhD and relevant experience in engines and related research in sprays as demonstrated by published works in international journals and conferences. Experience in optical and laser diagnostics techniques is essential. The post requires excellent organisational skills and ability to liaise with industrial and academic partners from other universities.

The post is for a period of 36 months. The research fellow will join an established research team of PhD students and post-doctoral research fellows working in similar areas and will be supported by technical staff.
