The suite of filmmaking programmes at the University of the West England are housed in new multi-million pound facilities, offering world-class experiences with internationally-renowned partners. We are looking for an outstanding candidate to lead and develop this portfolio.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding manager and a team player with strong leadership skills.

With excellent organisational and communication skills you will have management and teaching responsibilities across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will have exceptional understanding of the delivery of 21st century filmmaking teaching. In addition you will also oversee the delivery of teaching and learning in order to achieve outstanding learning outcomes for our students.

You will have the vision and experience to play a key role in expanding the filmmaking offer at UWE at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

The filmmaking team has strong links with professional organisations and commercial operations across the City and as the AHoD you will be expected to have in-depth knowledge of these and experience of working with partners in Bristol.

There will also be a requirement to form further external relationships and collaborations within the university and external to it.

You will also be expected to encourage your team to engage in research and scholarly/professional activity to enhance and inform the teaching design, delivery and curriculum development within the filmmaking cluster.

You will have the following:

  • Academic management experience.
  • Expertise in the field of filmmaking within industry and academia.
  • Excellent knowledge of Bristol and our filmmaking partners
  • Filmmaking teaching experience at undergraduate and masters level.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience.
