Research Associate/Senior Research Associate in Magnetic Resonance Imaging

UCL/UCLH have a large and varied portfolio of research activities related to MR imaging and analysis. There is access to 1,5T and 3T MR scanners for research, a PET/MR scanner, a GE Spinlab hyperpolarizor and an MR guided HIFU system will soon be installed for prostate cancer treatment. The funding provided an exciting opportunity to work at the frontier of clinical tranlation of MR technologies to directly impact on the care of cancer and other patients.

This post provides a varied and exciting role for a Research Associate or Senior Research Associate to become involved in a variety of MR-related research projects and the clinical MR scanning of cancer patients across the Greater London area. The post is jointly funded by London Cancer, the UCL Biomedical Research Centre and the UCL Centre of Medical Imaging.

The post holder will be expected to provide MRI help and advice to multiple hospital sites in line with the remit of the London Cancer initiative and to facilitate and undertake MRI-based research at UCL and UCLH.

Funding for this post is available for 3 years in the first instance.

PhD in relevant discipline, or experience demonstrating the person could carry out the appropriate responsibilities of the post.

The successful candidate will have a Good BSc/MSc or equivalent in a numerate discipline, a strong background in MRI acquisition and reconstruction. An understanding of safe practice in MRI and of the relevant regulations.

The candidate will have the ability to demonstrate aptitude for research and have evidence of good publication record in peer-reviewed publications consistent with career history.

The candidate will also have the ability to supervise relevant staff and students, teach and train technical/non-technical staff, be able to work without supervision and have a high level of problem solving ability.

Applicants close to the submission of PhD thesis will be considered.

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7 or 8. The salary range will be £34,635 - £41,864 per annum at Grade 7 or £43,023 - £50,753 per annum at Grade 8, inclusive of London Allowance.
