Senior Technical Officer to Develop Microwave & THz Components for Astronomical and Commercial Applications

The Cardiff Astronomical Instrumentation Group is developing novel quasi-optical metamaterial devices (flat lenses, HWPs, filters, etc), superconducting detectors and waveguide components for use in astronomical and commercial instrumentation.

A Senior Technical Officer position is available to assist and manage contract and development work related to manufacture and performance verification of these devices. Ideal applicants should have experience of cleanroom processes; be able to assist with integration and testing of quasi-optical hardware (filters, detectors, instruments); and carry out performance tests, recording and archiving data and writing test reports for customers. They should also be able to manage and schedule their work and possess good interpersonal communication skills.

This post is full time and fixed-term for two years.
