Teaching Fellow (post 1)

Fixed-term:  4 years (initially)

Applications are invited for one of three Teaching Fellow positions within the Department of Computing, a leading department of Computer Science among UK Universities with a reputation for excellence in both teaching and research. The Department is in the process of reviewing its teaching and learning strategy and the content of its curriculum. You will provide support to free up time for existing staff to undertake this review and to implement and evaluate changes in both content and teaching and learning practices. You will have the opportunity to develop your own role within the Department and to contribute to planned, and future, initiatives in teaching and learning over time.

As an active member of the teaching team, you will take part in working groups to identify new curriculum and assessment initiatives based on evidence, innovation and targeted improvements to existing practices. In addition, you will design, organise and run laboratory and tutorial classes, including supervision and assessment of students. You will also act as Disabilities Officer and coordinate the Graduate Teaching Assistants scheme for the Department.

To apply you must have a PhD degree in computing or relevant equivalent experience. Applicants should have a broad knowledge and understanding of the computer science curriculum and experience of delivering high quality teaching, as well as experience of working in an academic Computing environment. You will have excellent communications skills, and work well in a team environment and adapt to new ideas, methods, tools, etc., relating to academic teaching and learning.
