Executive Administration Officer (Teaching and Learning)

University of Reading - Vice Chancellor's Office

The Vice-Chancellor’s Office is seeking an enthusiastic, reliable and conscientious individual to join the Teaching and Learning (T&L) Executive Support Team where you will provide professional administrative support to the most senior leaders in the University and the Teaching and Learning Deans (TLDs), in particular.

Under the guidance of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Learning, the TLDs provide strategic leadership and direction for all T&L matters across the University. They also have responsibility for T&L priorities such as internationalisation, student experience and enhancing the curriculum. In addition, they lead a range University-wide strategic T&L projects.

The executive support team roles are interesting, busy and varied. They involve, among other things: managing several electronic diaries, handling correspondence - predominantly via email, making arrangements for meetings with internal and external stakeholders – including preparation and circulation of papers and tracking actions, minute-taking, coordinating arrangements for visits, and organising and booking travel arrangements. There may also be opportunities for you to provide support on a number of T&L projects.

You will have an interest in Teaching and Learning matters and, ideally, have some experience of working in those areas. As part of a small, dedicated, professional executive team you will have daily contact with senior colleagues and students across the University.

Possession of excellent communication skills, together with tact and discretion, and an ability to remain calm under pressure and to meet deadlines, are all critical requirements.

As Executive Administration Officer, you will manage your own workload and be able to work effectively without close daily supervision. You will be able to resolve issues and queries independently, and provide advice on specialist but established procedures to a range of stakeholders.

On occasion, you may be required to provide temporary cover in other teams across the wider Vice-Chancellor’s Office, and may also be asked to deputise for the team leader, the Executive Administration Manager, when required.
