Associate Professor/Professor in Microbiology (Teaching and Research)

We are looking for a full Professor or Associate Professor of Microbiology to contribute to research in the Department of Biosciences in the area of human microbiome research with clinical applications. You will provide research leadership for the pathogen research group, which has strengths in host-pathogen interactions, microbial genomics, the evolution of pathogenesis, antimicrobial resistance & novel antimicrobials. Your clinically aligned microbiome research will also complement and support wider activities within the School including metabolic disease, cancer and Sport Sciences. We offer a highly collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment, some start-up funding and excellent research facilities.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape developments in research and teaching within Biosciences, which is the largest department in the School of Science and Technology. You will work within our rapidly evolving Clifton Campus, a multi-award-winning greenfield site with inspiring facilities. Within the School, there are state of the art facilities including next generation sequencing and high performance computing which are available to all researchers. We recently opened an interdisciplinary science and technology building, with state of the art bioscience research and teaching labs at Clifton. A medical technology innovation facility and a building for engineering are due for completion in 2019.
