Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (Fashion Business)

The Manchester Fashion Institute is one of the largest providers of Fashion education in the UK and its curriculum reflects the broad and contemporary nature of the global fashion industry. The Fashion team is a highly professional and collegiate group who have been proactive in establishing innovative programmes of study to serve the needs of a 1500+ undergraduate and postgraduate student population.

In this role you will contribute to growth of the Fashion Business area of the Institute, contributing to research development and providing high-quality teaching and supervision at undergraduate, and masters levels. The Department is a collegial one, with an emphasis on mutual support, and organised around the principle of working together as a team to achieve the University’s strategic objectives (www2.mmu.ac.uk/about-us/our-strategy).

You will have knowledge and experience across a broad range of business related subjects, including marketing communications, business change management, people in organisations and enterprise. You will primarily teach on the BA (Hons) Fashion Buying and Merchandising and/or the newly validated MA/MSc Fashion and Business programme, taking responsibility for units and contributing to the successful management of the programmes. You will also have a professional and academic understanding of how this role relates to the broader business needs required for contemporary fashion commerce to function and a proven ability to teach undergraduates and post-graduates in this area effectively.

You must also be a scholar with a recognised record of achievement in research as demonstrated by publications that are REF 2021 eligible and world-class in terms of originality, significance and rigour. You will have experience in applying for external grants and building external partnerships. As a collegial, team-player you'll have the ability to mentor and nurture the talents of others to the benefit of the Department and University as a whole.

The anticipated start date for the successful applicant is April 2018.

Salary: Grade 8 (£34,520 to £39,992) to Grade 9 (£41,212 to £47,722)
