Senior Research Associate

Bristol Medical School: Translational Health Sciences is looking to appoint a senior research associate funded by Heart Research UK. The role will be based in the Bristol Heart Institute on Research Floor Level 7 of the Queens Building of the Bristol Royal Infirmary.

The senior research associate will work in the research group of Professor Sarah George on a project entitled ‘Reduction of vein graft failure by microsphere delivery of an N-cadherin peptide mimic’, alongside other team members. The senior research fellow will require experience in tissue culture including culture of primary cells and static and flow organ culture models, cell behaviour assays including proliferation, migration and apoptosis, and histological analysis including microtome cutting, histological stains and immunohistochemistry. In addition, the senior research fellow will require experience in research article preparation and oral presentations.

Additionally, the senior research fellow will be required to work in the laboratory of Dr Carmen Galan in the School of Chemistry to assist with microsphere and perivascular wrap preparation for peptide delivery.
