Salary: £39,993 - £74,259 (Lecturer salary from £39,993 - £47,722 a year with potential progression (to £53,690 a year)). (Senior Lecturer/Reader salary from £49,148 - £56,950 a year with potential progression (to £74,259 a year)).

The School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, at the University of Birmingham, is seeking to appoint a faculty member at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level. The appointment will be made to build research capacity within the Exercise and Health theme, an area of excellence within the School.

The appointed candidate will be expected to have ambition to participate in one of the UK’s strongest research Schools, maintaining our strengths as a leading research-led teaching department, capturing external research funding, and publishing work of the highest academic quality and impact. The appointee will be expected to show the ability to lead and shape the strategic direction of the School, to maintain its reputation at a national and international level, and to contribute to outstanding postgraduate supervision and undergraduate teaching.

The appointee will have a clear research vision, within the field of Exercise Physiology, a growing international reputation in the field, and significant track record of internationally leading research (evidenced for example by publication of high impact research). The appointee will also have a reasonable track record in attracting external research funding and emerging leadership and management skills. We expect the appointee to be an inspiring teacher, who is able to communicate with researchers, undergraduates and the general public.

The applicants will possess a PhD within the field of exercise physiology or related subject area and we welcome candidates with clinical or non-clinical backgrounds. The applicant will also be able to demonstrate excellent project management and organizational skills, the ability to work to deadlines and previous experience in working with teams of people from academic and non-academic backgrounds.
