Health Innovation Campus ERDF Project Manager

Lancaster University

This is an exciting and critical new role which has been created to support Lancaster’s new Health Innovation Campus (HIC). The University seeks to appoint a Project Manager to manage European Regional Development Funding (ERDF) associated activity which is part of a £41M first phase of initial investment.

The Health Innovation Campus is a pioneering new project that will bring together innovators, academics, entrepreneurs, businesses, local government, citizens and health care providers. The aim of the development, based beside the University's Bailrigg campus, is to drive advances in technologies, products and ways of working to improve health and healthcare. The vision is to create a world-class centre of excellence for innovation and research in population health.

The HIC ERDF project Manager will work with colleagues across campus to build a thriving, sustainable HIC industrial cluster network in advance of the associated building opening, identifying SMEs that can co-locate within the facility once established and then to deliver further support to Lancashire SMEs using the new facilities across its first year. The £2 million revenue project will deliver a programme of innovation support to 300 eligible Lancashire based SMEs providing a range of opportunities to accelerate digital innovation into the health and care marketplace, from interventions via master classes to raise awareness of opportunities within sector and thematic workshops to explore challenges and enhance innovation. There will be intense development and applied research programmes to support commercialisation of new products and processes.

We seek to employ an experienced and skilled Project Manager to manage the delivery of this project through to completion in 2020. The Project Manager will be critical to the success of the project by overseeing the quality and timely delivery of the designed programme of work. The project team is located across multiple faculties and requires the central point of coordination and liaison provided by the Project Manager. The Project Manager will be the primary point of contact connecting the Faculty of Health and Medicine with Lancaster University Management School (LUMS), and the School of Computing and Communications in the Faculty of Science and Technology, who both have established reputations engaging with small and medium-sized enterprises.

This role requires excellent project management and networking skills to establish and build collaborations with SMEs and the University and business partners across the region. This post is subject to funding being awarded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund Programme 2014-2020 and is offered on a fixed term basis until 31st January 2021 in the first instance.

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
