PhD Studentship in Petroleum Geology/Petroleum Chemistry

We are pleased to announce that an exciting opportunity has arisen for a fully funded, four year PhD studentship to start in October 2018 on any one of the following topics:

Redox at Source – The role or ferruginous clay minerals and reactive species in hydrocarbon formation

Primary Supervisor: Prof Chris Greenwell

The role of redox in ferruginous clay mineral and iron nanoparticle mobilisation during enhanced oil recovery

Primary Supervisor: Prof Chris Greenwell

The origin, active tectonics and fate of the South Caspian Basin

Primary Supervisor: Prof Jeroen van Hunen

Induced seismicity due to subsurface fluid injection

Primary Supervisor: Prof Stefan Nielsen

Eligibility and How to Apply

This PhD studentship will provide for UK/EU tuition fees and a full tax-free maintenance grant set at the UK Research Councils' national rate, which in 2017/18 was £14,553 (to be confirmed for 2018/19; for guidance only).

Funding is available for both UK and EU citizens. Students must begin their research on October 1st 2018. There is an application deadline of 17:00 (GMT) Friday 16th February 2018.
