Facilities Assistant (23913-127)

University of Warwick - Warwick Business School - Academic Services

Full-time, Monday-Friday. Hours will be between 08:00-18:00, to be arranged with the post-holder (flexibility may be requested).

This is an exciting opportunity to enhance your buildings and facilities maintenance experience in a key role at a leading Business School. As an important member of the School’s Facilities team, reporting directly to the Buildings & Facilities Manager, you will help support the WBS strategy and vision by delivering and promoting the maintenance of high quality infrastructure and facilities. This role involves a combination of operational facilities maintenance and administrative tasks, so will be best suited to applicants with experience in both areas.

This is a busy role in a fast-paced environment. You will need to be proactive, positive, self-motivated and enthusiastic, with a real can-do approach to work.

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to provide high-quality operational, logistical and physical support for the facilities infrastructure;
  • The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team;
  • The ability to organise a busy workload, with attention to detail, communicating accurately and effectively with your manager and team;
  • Experience of meeting competing deadlines and delivering excellent customer service in a diplomatic, friendly and professional manner;
  • Competence in Microsoft Office software including MS Excel, MS Outlook email and preferably experience of using databases or an online helpdesk;
  • The ability to anticipate issues and problems and to propose practical solutions;
  • Willingness to be flexible in your routine, as occasional cover will be required across areas such as reception and catering support.

You will be educated to at least GCSE standard, including A-C in Maths and English, (or with demonstrable and significant equivalent experience relevant to the role). Recent and relevant experience in facilities maintenance and administration, and experience of supervising others will be a bonus, preferably gained in the higher education sector. Please refer to the person specification for a full list of essential and desirable skills and experience, and please address these requirements specifically in your application.

Please be aware that this role will include a physical element which will entail, for example, the moving of furniture and materials around and between buildings.

Please also be aware that this role occasionally calls for flexibility of start and finish times to cover preparation for events and teaching activities.

Interview date: week commencing 12 February 2018.
