In 2016 Colchester Institute successfully applied to deliver its degree provision under the name of University Centre Colchester (UCC), recognising fifty years of excellence in delivering degrees and the success of our employer-led, research driven courses. The 1,100 students who study at UCC have access to their own building at Colchester Institute’s Sheepen Road campus but also can utilise University of Essex’s facilities as a large number of UCC’s degrees are validated by partner, University of Essex.

The University College Colchester is looking for a Lecturer in Early Years to give professional leadership to the teaching team and lead on quality assurance processes, in keeping with the Early Years professions regulations as well as the Validating Higher Education Institution (HEI) and University Centre Colchester (UCC) requirements. The successful candidate will teach and facilitate on the Early Years undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and contribute to the development and teaching of other programmes within the School of Education, Health and Social Sciences. You will also be required to work with students on a pastoral, professional and academic level. 

The successful candidate will have:

  • a good standard of general education with a qualification in Maths and English at level 2 or above,
  • a Degree or equivalent qualification in Early Years (or closely related subject,
  • a Higher Degree level qualification in a relevant subject and,
  • a nationally recognised teaching qualification or a commitment to obtaining one in post.

You will be able to demonstrate evidence of recent professional updating in Early Years Education and have experience of programme leadership/managerial responsibilities. An ability to understand and interpret current developments and regulations in Early Years education correctly and to understand and lead on validating HEI and UCC quality assurance processes is also essential to the role.
