A Research Fellow is required to become part of a team working on a Wellcome Trust-funded study exploring the ethics of care on social media, which is led by Dr Anna Lavis at the University of Birmingham.

The study comprises an online ethnography of interactions around self-harm on social media, as well as public engagement and networking activities. The post holder will be responsible for online ethnographic data collection, and will undertake some data analysis, dissemination and research administration. 

Person Specification:

The successful candidate will have a background in anthropology, with experience of conducting ethnography on a health-related topic. Experience of research into social media or text-based data analysis is desirable. An interest in mental health and wellbeing, and an in-depth knowledge of anthropological theory and methods are essential.

Full time starting salary is normally in the range £29,799 to £38,832. With potential progression once in post to £41,212 a year.
