The University’s Department of Theatre, Film and Television was founded in 2006, and moved into a superb, £30m purpose-designed facility in 2010. Our programmes include a BA in Theatre: Writing, Directing and Performance, a BSc in Film and Television Production and a BSc in Interactive Media as well as a range of Masters programmes in Theatre, Digital Film and Television Production and in Post Production. There is also a thriving community of research students. We are now seeking to continue to enhance our research and teaching in discipline-specific fields while strengthening and expanding our interdisciplinary work across film and television, theatre and interactive media.

The Department is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Theatre to contribute to research and teaching, primarily in writing and storytelling for theatre. The main duties include developing and carrying out individual or collaborative research projects, leading to the production of research outputs and outcomes; delivering teaching across a wide range of modules and/or within a particular programme or subject area; and undertaking a range of administrative and managerial responsibilities

You should have a PhD (or nearing completion) in a relevant subject or equivalent professional experience in theatre/playwriting; have experience of teaching playwriting and/or storytelling for theatre at HE level, including knowledge of relevant teaching techniques; have a strong record as a researcher and/or writer; and have in depth knowledge of the theory and practice of playwriting and storytelling for theatre. This role can be full time or flexible working including job sharing will be considered. Minimum of 29.6 hours (80% FTE) should candidates require sponsorship.
