EU Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Early Stage Researcher

Babraham Institute

COSMIC (Combatting disorders of adaptive immunity with systems medicine; project 765158) is an international consortium of scientists from high profile universities, research institutions and companies located in Germany, Italy, France, Greece, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands.

The consortium is currently seeking candidates for 13 PhD positions and 1 industrial research post. The roles are funded by the Marie-Sklodowska-Curie European Training Network within the European Horizon 2020 Programme.

Martin Turner’s group at the Babraham Institute is part of the COSMIC consortium and will host one of the available PhD studentships. The chosen candidate will apply state of the art next generation sequencing technologies to identify changes in alternative splicing and polyadenylation that occur in B cells in response to positive selection signals in germinal centres. By using mutant mouse models they will gain a deeper insight into how T cell help is interpreted by B cells and how these processes may lead to disease.

Full details of the programme, including a short summary of Dr Martin Turner's project, can be found here. Other project descriptions and the online application form can be found at

All applications should be made via the on-line recruitment portal on the COSMIC website and not directly to the Institute.

Closing date for completed applications is Friday 1st March 2018.

Please contact Laurian Jongejan, COSMIC PhD Project Manager ( for all enquiries or questions regarding the programme.
