We are seeking a Research Associate with a background in 3D Visualisation and Augmented Reality. The partners are The University of Sheffield, Delft University of Technology and South China University of Technology.

The University of Sheffield will focus on stakeholder involvement and the development of visualisations, e.g. immersive 3D and Augmented Reality. You will have specific responsibilities for work on the development of methods for immersive landscape visualisation and for augmenting real world views with invisible features or with proposed changes, enabling understanding of urban landscape dynamics and transformations through ex-post evaluation of existing urban planning strategies and projects and ex-ante evaluation of scenarios of potential adaptation strategies.

Candidates should have a PhD (or close to completion of a PhD) in Computer Science, Architecture, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture (or in a related discipline, or equivalent experience) and have excellent programming skills (e.g. Java, Javascript, C++, etc.) including experience in 3D visualisation and Augmented Reality application development with an interest in Landscape. Knowledge of machine vision, including algorithms and applications of feature recognition as well as Geographical Information Systems or Game environments would be an asset. Experience with human computer interaction and information visualisation is desirable.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary team in Sheffield in close collaboration with our international partners. The work will require travel to project meetings in China and the Netherlands.
