Assistant Professor in Biochemistry

Salary: £35,550 to £47,722 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

Applications are invited for the above role to deliver biochemistry teaching to science and medical students and to contribute to the School’s excellent reputation in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Within the School of Life Sciences we cover a wide spectrum of biological and medical sciences in teaching, including 4 different biochemistry degrees. Expertise in the school spans molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, pharmacology, physiology, anatomy and zoology. Our aim is to achieve excellence in education, both with our undergraduate and postgraduate science degrees, and with the major contributions we make to professional degrees in medicine, pharmacy and dietetics. We also have a substantial research portfolio and strive to achieve research excellence across this range.

Candidates should hold a PhD in Biochemistry or related discipline supported by a recognised teaching qualification such as PGCHE or Fellowship of the HEA. The ability to produce and deliver high quality lecture material to a varied undergraduate audience is essential, as is the ability to demonstrate innovation in teaching. 

This is a full time, permanent position. Job share arrangements may be considered for this post.
