To tackle diverse environmental management problems the University of Manchester has been developing a suite of software solutions for the simulation and optimisation of resource networks such as water and energy systems. We endeavour to build well-designed software tools linking data management, user interaction, data visualisation, and computer models, many of which are open source. We now require a talented and dedicated web developer to build and manage web applications for a range of UK and international research and industrial projects.

The developer will be expected to contribute proactively and collaboratively to a wide range of activities in the software development team at different times. You will work with researchers on multiple projects, engage in training and outreach work, and meet with clients/research partners to understand requirements, build proposals and develop solutions. A diverse range of knowledge, skills and experience are needed along with excellent interpersonal, communication and team working skills. There is potential for contract extension after the initial one year if funding and performance allows.
