Research & Knowledge Exchange is a central professional services department which works to support the University's ambitious goals for growth. the team is responsible for the management and delivery of research strategy through the provision of comprehensive support to academic departments in the development of; research income and wider research environment, impact & public engagement activities, business partnerships and collaborations.

The Head of Research Development will provide strategic and operational management to implement the University’s research strategy, supporting the full breadth of research-related activities with particular focus on income growth and high quality academic outputs.

You will play a leading role in the development and growth of University Centres for Research and Knowledge Exchange, managing the effective cross-functional support required to deliver centre plans.

You will lead the expanding Research Development and Research Delivery teams and manage the integration of related activities across other central and faculty based professional service teams.

Act as the University’s professional service lead in authoring, project managing, negotiating and delivery of strategic and high profile institutional and collaborative funding applications, submissions and consultations.

The role would suit a proactive and highly experienced research support professional who has a strong track record in leading and managing research growth in a UK University environment.

You will demonstrate in-depth understanding of the research funding landscape and the ability to develop strategies to ensure the University is well placed to respond to external change.

A key feature is extensive experience of leading and delivering major strategic research projects and complex funding applications across a broad range of subject disciplines.

You will also be required to demonstrate significant leadership skills and expertise in developing productive relationships across all University departments and with external partners and funders.
