Research Technician in Protein Production

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate for a Research Technician post in the Protein Production Facility. The post is maternity cover for an initial period of 6 months.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will be to support users of the facility in molecular biology and protein purification. This will include training in the use of facility equipment, supporting users during its use, and maintaining the equipment. You will also be required to perform molecular cloning and protein purification on behalf of facility users, keeping accurate records throughout the workflow, and providing results to facility users.

You should be educated to Degree level, BTEC higher level or equivalent, or have equivalent experience in a relevant area, together with experience in molecular cloning and a good understanding of, as well as experience in, protein expression and purification. You will be required to work as part of a team and possess strong IT skills. Previous experience with mammalian and insect cell protein expression, as well as chromatography systems (e.g. AKTAs) and lab automation, would also be desirable.
