Faculty Librarian (Science)

University of Portsmouth - University Library

Interview date: 23 February 2018

This post is based in the award winning University Library in Ravelin Park. We are a busy, single-site, 24/7 service, recently awarded CSE accreditation, with consistently above average satisfaction rates in the NSS and excellent staff survey results.

We are looking for an experienced and committed individual to join our Academic Liaison team as Faculty Librarian supporting the Faculty of Science. The Faculty of Science has a longstanding and well-deserved reputation for excellence in both research and teaching across multiple subject areas.

Your role is pivotal to the student experience building on the links between the Library and the Faculty of Science including attendance at relevant committees, managing the Faculty library budget and the design and delivery of information and digital literacy programs at all levels. You will be managing and supervising a range of staff in the Library so excellent communication and interpersonal skills are key to the role.

You will co-ordinate the development of learning and teaching support across the Faculty Librarians including the sharing of best practice within the team and liaise with institutional partners around the Library contribution to digital literacy programmes for staff and students.

You will be a qualified librarian with specialist knowledge of one or more of the areas taught/researched within the Faculty of Science and knowledge of the current issues in higher education libraries.

For an informal conversation about the role please contact Ken Dick ken.dick@port.ac.uk 023 9284 3225
