Applications are invited for a Post Doctoral Research Associate position in Dr Helen Rowe's research group covered by ERC funding.

Dr Rowe's group conduct innovative research on how transposons present in the human genome switch genes on and off through epigenetic mechanisms. The available postdoctoral position is on how transposons remodel the genome during embryonic stem cell differentiation and during reprogramming.

Dr Rowe's research group is cross-disciplinary with techniques involving stem cell culture and differentiation, chromatin configuration, virology and genetics. We also collaborate with developmental biologists and bioinformaticians. The postholder would interact with bioinformaticians and gain valuable experience in performing some basic bioinformatics analysis themselves.

Appointment at grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a Phd; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (salary £30,316 - £31,967 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis or to start date of appointment as appropriate.

The post is available immediately for 2.5 years in the first instance.

The successful applicant should have a PhD (or about to be awarded) in Stem Cell Biology /Epigenetics.

Competency in molecular biology and primary cell culture and knowledge of CRISPR knockout are essential requirements.

They must be able to manage time and work to strict deadlines. They must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a wide range of colleagues.
