Student and Academic Services (SAS) provides a wide-range of services and support to students and academic staff. Our student services span the complete student lifecycle from enquiry, through enrolment and on-course support, to graduation and beyond. Our academic services include direct support for academic staff in many aspects of their work, and portfolio support spanning the course lifecycle, from planning and approval, through to curriculum management and programme review. Our ambition is that the services we provide should be sector-leading, adapted to meet the needs of our University, and sufficiently flexible to respond rapidly to changing requirements.

The post is part of our central Marketing, Communications and Development department (MCD). MCD is an award-winning team, providing expertise in marketing and communications across Manchester Metropolitan University, as well as managing the University’s profile and presence externally. Our remit encompasses Press and Public Relations, Web and New Media, Corporate and Faculty Marketing, Events, Public Engagement, Alumni and Development, and Design and Photography. We play a crucial role in ensuring communication materials and activities are fully integrated to maximum effect, reinforcing internally and externally the University’s brand, reputation and strengths.

We are seeking an Assistant Press & Communications Officer who is looking for an exciting, challenging role. This hands-on role will be part of the University Press Office. The Press Office handles reactive and proactive media relations for the University, as well as publishing the award-winning Met Magazine, delivering media training for staff, and creating exciting content for print and online channels.

You will assist in the successful running of the Press Office through the provision of administrative and project support to the Press Office team, and other relevant staff throughout the University. This includes handling media enquiries and requests for Press Office support from University staff, assisting in creating compelling content and copy, and assisting in the monitoring and evaluation of University press coverage.
