The Department of History, Politics, and Philosophy, situated within the Arts & Humanities Faculty, is a key centre for political and public policy research in the north of England. The Politics and Public Services team are a highly professional and collegiate group who have been proactive in establishing innovative programmes of study to serve the needs of a 400+ undergraduate and postgraduate student population.

You will help in growing the Politics and Public Service/Policy areas of the Department, contributing to research development, mentoring junior staff, and providing high-quality teaching and supervision at undergraduate, masters and PhD levels. As a collegial department, we have a strong emphasis on mutual support, and organise around the principle of working together as a team to achieve the University’s strategic objectives (https://www2.mmu.ac.uk/about-us/our-strategy/).

You will have taught on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Public Services, Politics, and other related areas to develop effective independent learners. Key teaching areas of interest for this post include: public policy, education, youth engagement, sport and welfare and other areas at UG and PGT levels such as research ethics. You should have experience in leading and develop quality programmes that embed employability to ensure student success.

It is expected that you will make a significant contribution to one of the University's current research centres, ideally RCASS or HRC, and be 2021 REFable . You should have a demonstrated record of publications that are REF 2021 eligible and world-class in terms of originality, significance and rigour. You should also have experience in applying for external grants and building external partnerships. As a collegial, team-player you'll have the ability to mentor and nurture the talents of others to the benefit of the Department and University as a whole.
