Lecturer/Senior Lecturer or Reader in Basic Medical Science

Applications are invited for a post of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader in Medical Sciences.

We are seeking a highly motivated academic who has the commitment and ability to make an active contribution to developing and delivering this exciting new project. Barts and the London School of Medicine, Malta will be expecting the first cohort of students in September 2017 and we’re seeking an academic who has the experience, passion and vision to build on an opportunity to develop this new international medical school.

The successful candidate will possess a PhD or equivalent with a record of outstanding teaching and high-quality research. This post is a teaching and development role and we welcome applications from candidates who can complement and support the school both in curriculum delivery and student support. The post holder will lead, develop and deliver to MBBS students, high quality teaching and assessment in clinically relevant basic sciences, particularly in the fields of physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology and neuroscience depending on the applicant’s expertise. They will also contribute to research and collaborate with academic staff at the parent medical school in London.

The post is full-time, fixed term for two years which is renewable. Salary for appointment as Lecturer will be €43,709 per annum, salary for appointment as Senior Lecturer will be €50,656 per annum, and salary for appointment as Reader will be €61,971 per annum. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave.

These posts are employed by QMUL Malta Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Queen Mary University of London and the post will be based in Malta. The School of Medicine and Dentistry is a leading medical and dental school that offers international levels of excellence in research and teaching.
