We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to join the Social, Economic and Geographical Sciences group (SEGS) at the James Hutton Institute. The Social, Economic and Geographical Sciences (SEGS) group is one of the largest groups of socio-economic researchers in the UK, with 35 scientists studying the environment, primary industry adjustment and rural development. The successful candidate will be part of a team of researchers undertaking research on agricultural knowledge systems, farmer innovation and new entrants to farming.  The post-holder will be involved in supporting farmers to develop ‘virtual demonstration’ (through 360 degree video).

The candidate must have a PhD in a related field (e.g. human geography, rural sociology, agricultural economics, interdisciplinary agricultural research), with a strong theoretical background in socio-technical innovation, sociology of innovation, social learning, farm household adjustment and/or agricultural knowledge systems.  The candidate must also have experience of undertaking research in the agricultural sector, in a developed world context.
