Salary: Grade 7, £30,688- £38,833 per annum.  Potential to progress to £42,418 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution.

The University Secretary’s Office is part of the Office of the President and Vice-Chancellor. The University Secretary’s primary role is to support excellent working relations between the University Council, the Senate, and the University Executive, cultivating an ethos of effective governance. This role is vital to the University achieving its strategic aims and objectives. The University Secretary works closely with the Chair of Council and the President and Vice-Chancellor to offer strategic independent advice and support. The University’s strategic plan plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful performance of the University.

As part of the Policy and Projects Team, within the University Secretary’s Office, you will undertake investigation of higher education policy proposals or changes, work with colleagues to obtain relevant sector or University data and develop briefings, text or presentations to inform bids, policy proposals and consultation responses. You will also lead on supporting the University to assess its own performance through the development/implementation of Key Performance Indicators and managing the process for monitoring high-level risk in the University. You will be part of a close-knit team where you will need to be well organised and an effective co-ordinator. The role is varied and fast-paced and you should be willing to be flexible and adaptable. You will have a good understanding of the HE policy environment and/or be an experienced researcher with experience of writing briefings and reports. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
