Animal Technician

University of Cambridge - Central Cambridge

We are looking for an animal technician, with surgery experience, to join our friendly, hardworking team and be actively involved in the daily care and maintenance of animals within our modern biofacility.

The job duties will involve general husbandry, looking after welfare requirements, record keeping, checking and recording environmental parameters, health monitoring, general hygiene and cleaning.

Ideally you will hold an Institute of Animal Technology Level 2 or equivalent qualification, or at least GCSE (A-C) in English, Maths and a Science subject (ideally Biology), or equivalent. It is also desirable that the successful candidate will be expected to hold, or be ready to apply for a Home Office personal license with Home Office modules A - C.

You should be positive, reliable and able to interact with team colleagues and research staff. Experience in a technical/laboratory setting, with specific experience working with rodents and completing surgery and regulated procedures would also be desirable.

The post is available immediately and subject to the satisfactory completion of a 3 month probationary period.
