Research Assistant, Explant Team

This post is funded by LifeArc and is aimed at delivering on key milestones set out by the explant contract, a partnership between the University, MRC Toxicology Unit, Cancer Research UK Innovation Partnerships and LifeArc.

In this role, you will provide research assistant support for the LifeArc Explant project, specifically to facilitate sample acquisition and technology development. You will also be required to act as the interface between the project and Department of Pathology, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, regarding clinical data collation. You will also need to be confident in training staff and students involved in the handling of human tissues and ensure laboratory activities are compliant with regulatory bodies.

We are looking for a proactive graduate who is experienced in working with human tissue samples and is confident in undertaking histological techniques. Desirable attributes also include evidence of coherent research activity such as successful grant applications and publications; a basic knowledge of cancer cell and molecular biology and experience of digital pathology.
