We are seeking to appoint a highly qualified and motivated individual to work on an Innovate UK funded, collaborative Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project between Altro Group Limited and the UCL Department of Chemistry.

The main duty of the post-holder is to lead and successfully deliver the Knowledge Transfer Partnership between UCL and Altro to embed new capabilities in omniphobic powder technology to develop innovative ‘easy-to-clean’ slip resistant flooring and hygienic wall sheet in Altro product lines. This will involve synthesis and development of the omniphobic powder technology and integration into coating formulations. Process scale-up will also be investigated, as well as integration of the technology into both pilot and production scale at Altro.

The post carries a £4,000 dedicated personal development budget, £7,500 for travel and consumables and will predominantly be based at Altro offices in Letchworth Garden City.

The post is available as soon as possible and is funded for 24 months in the first instance.

The successful candidate will have an MSc in Chemistry, Materials or Chemical Engineering background with suitable industry experience; we welcome applicants with a PhD. Candidates with coating research and formulation experience will be highly desired. Formulation experience especially with a focus on particle dispersion, particle homogenisation and rheology is essential.
