Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager

Lancaster University

Lancaster University is one of the UK’s top universities, ranked well in the top 10 across all major tables, and is currently University of the Year in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide.

The HR function consists of over 50 colleagues who provide a broad range of HR, Organisational Development, Heath & Safety, Equality & Diversity and Educational Development services to the University. These services are provided to circa 3400 employees, with some based overseas.

Acting as the custodian of the University’s Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) vision and strategy, you will proactively channel your passion for EDI to motivate and inspire others to think strategically on these matters. You will gain credibility quickly through your specialist knowledge and expertise, understanding of the Higher Education sector, continual horizon scanning keeping abreast of relevant legislation & initiatives, and creativity to develop innovative, yet practical and impactful solutions. A real advocate for change, you take your responsibility for the University’s engagement with equality charters and kite marks seriously, and have the ability to challenge the status quo and stimulate others to embrace EDI, turning thinking into action!

Additionally, you recognise the importance of building relationships and collaborations (both internally and with local community groups) to make an impact, and apply your excellent planning and organising abilities to facilitate events, conferences and training, all designed to promote the EDI agenda and engage others in it.

Lancaster University is a forward thinking, ambitious and prosperous organisation, giving you a genuine opportunity to make a difference and have an impact on the lives of staff and students alike.

Informal questions regarding the post should be directed to the Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development via Anthony Chamberlain a.chamberlain@lancaster.ac.uk

The EDI Manager will be appointed through an assessment centre and selection process. It is intended this process will take place on Tuesday 30th January 2018.

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
