Purpose and Main Duties

In this important and high profile role you will represent Birkbeck, University of London internationally, raising its profile and reputation overseas and playing a direct role in the achievement of the institution’s targets for international student recruitment.

You will have responsibility for developing new international student recruitment markets for Birkbeck as well as managing student recruitment and marketing activities in existing markets. In addition you will successfully manage and cultivate a network of recruitment agents, undertake international partnership development and liaise with a range of external bodies including scholarship agencies and government departments.

Candidate Requirements

It is essential that you are able to represent Birkbeck professionally and liaise with a wide range of senior internal and external contacts, demonstrating sensitivity to cross cultural issues. You will have an understanding of the factors that affect international student recruitment and have an interest in international higher education.

This role will require a significant amount of overseas travel and recruitment markets are likely to include Latin America (specifically Brazil, Colombia and Mexico). The ability to speak Portuguese and/or Spanish is desirable.

Further Information

Salary: Grade 6 of the College's London Pay Scale which is £32,586 rising to £37,169 per annum.

This post is full time, 35 hours per week (1.0 FTE) and fixed term for 12 months. The salary quoted above is on the College's London Pay Scale and includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the Greater London area. The initial salary will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful applicant. The appointment is subject to a probationary period of 6 months.
