Desktop and Systems Support Technician

We are looking for a tenacious IT Support Technician to join our busy team providing support to the University’s community of over 25,000 staff and students.  

This role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic IT technician who wants to learn new skills and progress within the field. This is an interesting and challenging position where no two days are ever the same.

You will be providing face to face and remote support for the University’s network of Windows, Mac and Linux computers. You will be responsible for supporting systems including Active directory, Office365, Exchange and a wide range of other applications and network services. You will take ownership of support incidents and use your troubleshooting skills to see them through to resolution.

The person we are seeking will have:-

  • Experience of supporting a variety of operating systems including Windows and Mac or Linux within a large organisation.
  • A clear analytical and methodical approach to problem solving. 
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Strong customer service skills. 
  • Relevant qualifications and experience.

Location: This post is based at our Highfield Campus with a requirement to travel to other University sites in Southampton and Winchester when necessary.
