Salary (Grade): R1 £34,714 including London Weighting

12 Month Fixed Term Contract

The successful candidate will work within the Institute of Energy Futures at Brunel University London and the RCUK Centre for Sustainable Energy Use in Food Chains (CSEF, CSEF undertakes research in a number of areas related to energy efficiency and demand reduction across all stages of the food chain and more widely in the industrial sector of the economy. The group is currently engaged in a number of externally funded projects focussing on, thermal energy recovery and conversion, including power generation, energy management of large industrial facilities, development of new innovative technologies and processes for heating, cooling, refrigeration, drying, energy and process modelling and optimisation. The projects are funded by RCUK, EU H2020, Innovate UK and Industry.

The appointee will contribute to existing and new projects, business development activities and the promotion of the work of the group nationally and internationally.

The successful candidate is expected to have:

  • A postgraduate qualification in a relevant area of engineering, science or technology
  • Experience in thermal food processing with particular emphasis in drying and dewatering technologies.
  • Knowledge in model formulation and complex drying mechanisms
  • Ability to evaluate the outcomes from the project
  • Evidence of publication in peer- review journals
  • Good team-working and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in management of research or industrial projects
  • Good knowledge of the food and/or other industry sectors and relevant industrial experience are highly desirable.
