Development Manager

University of London - Vice-Chancellor's Office

The University of London is one of the oldest and largest universities in the UK – and the most diverse. Established by Royal Charter in 1836, the University is recognised globally as a world leader in Higher Education. We are a federal institution consisting of 18 self-governing Colleges of outstanding reputation and a number of acclaimed central academic bodies. The University of London offers almost every subject covered in any University curriculum, delivering huge flexibility and choice to its students.

The Development Office was established in 2015 to serve the growing needs of our original international university.

We act as a link between the University of London and our alumni, supporters and friends, and are responsible for delivering philanthropic support for the University’s strategic aims. The goal of the Development Office is to ensure that the University can continue to fulfil its mission to make a unique contribution to learning and research through an unrivalled network of member institutions, global reach and reputation, and the breadth of our high-quality innovative academic services and infrastructure.

 The Role

The post holder will work closely with the University’s Central Academic Bodies (School of Advanced Study and its Institutes, Senate House Library, University of London International Programmes and University of London Institute in Paris) to progress relationships, formal philanthropic proposals and applications to charitable Trusts, Foundations and other supporters with the aim of raising philanthropic donation income for the University’s agreed fundraising priorities.

To be successful in this post, you must have the ability to work with senior staff members; with strong awareness of the ‘big picture’ issues relating to the University, the HE sector generally and the wider political scene and how this will affect the development agenda.

This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months to cover a period of maternity leave.
