Farm Machinery and Milking Equipment Specialist

The Agriculture and Food Development Authority - Teagasc

Location: Kildalton Agricultural & Horticultural College, Piltown, Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary or other major Teagasc centre/college, solely at the discretion of Teagasc.  

Grade/Salary: Agricultural Development Officer, Grade 1, with a starting salary of €32,729 per annum. The current salary scale is €32,729 to €63,700.

Post Type: Permanent

A panel may be formed from which future similar vacancies may be filled; such a panel will remain active for a maximum period of 12 months.

Background:             

Teagasc – the Agriculture and Food Development Authority – is the national body providing integrated research, advisory and training services to the Irish agriculture and food industry and to Ireland’s rural communities.  Food Wise 2025, the ten year plan for the Irish agro-food sector has set challenging targets for growth in the output and value added produced by the Irish agricultural industry.  To achieve this growth there will be a need for investment and training in farm machinery and new milking facilities to help maximise the potential of the Irish agriculture and to enhance farm incomes, improve labour productivity and farm safety.

Person Specification

Note: The ‘Essential’ qualifications, skills and knowledge outlined below are ‘must-have’ which will be used in the shortlisting process.

Essential Qualifications

  • QQI Level 8 Degree in Agricultural Science or other relevant Level 8 qualification.

Desirable Qualifications

  • A relevant post graduate qualification (Masters or PhD).
  • Relevant experience in a similar role.
