Union of Kingston Students exists to support, empower and enrich the lives of all students at Kingston University. We are a registered charity with student members elected across a range of roles to lead the organisation, supported by a team of permanent staff who are responsible for the operation and management of the union.

Kingston University sits proudly at the heart Kingston upon Thames and is only a 30 minute train journey from central London. It is a dynamic institution committed to widening participation in higher education and the students’ union works collaboratively as a critical friend to build an inclusive and broad-based environment for the 15,000 students whose lives are transformed during their time in Kingston. As a union we work hard to enrich the lives of our students through representation, more than 100 societies, competitive and non-competitive sport, volunteering and advice.

About the role

The Union of Kingston Students is looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to lead our Representation and Democracy department for a 12-month maternity cover. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has experience of delivering effective representation and democratic engagement activity in other unions and would like to bring this experience to a new setting. The post holder will have the opportunity to take a fresh look at our services and implement changes that will strengthen the support we offer to our elected representatives and increase engagement with our diverse student body. The trustee board is also keen to review our current governance arrangements to ensure that they are fit for purpose and delivering the most effective representation for our members.
