2 x Online Learning Designer – BUS00020

Imperial College London

South Kensington, London

£35,850 - £44,220 per annum

Due to continuing expansion in the use of fully online learning technology at the School, we are seeking talented and motivated individuals to assist us in providing high quality and professional learning design for our online and blended degree programmes.

The Imperial College Business School is committed to the use of educational technology on all of its degree programmes. We deliver a number of online degree programmes, both blended and fully online.  All of our on-campus programmes also have their own educational technology strategy which our learning technologist develop and deliver. Therefore, it is a key role of the learning technologist to manage these components, whilst also identifying and developing new opportunities.

You will be joining a respected Edtech Lab team where we offer a fast paced and stimulating working environment. This is a place to challenge yourself and build your professional skills. You will work under the direction of our Operations Manager but have distinct areas over which you have responsibility.

You will be expected to embed best practices and innovation in learning design, provide high quality learning experiences to programmes and evaluate the success of technology enhanced learning across the Business School. You will therefore need to have strong knowledge of instructional design, learning technologies and an understanding of what activities work (and don’t work) in the online space. The role also requires experience in quality assurance to ensure all external and internal requirements are met before our programmes launch. To do this you need to be both thorough and observant, with an eye for detail.

Our team has a strong technical base, which includes in-house media and web development, so you will need to be comfortable having technical conversations and understanding how different technologies can be incorporated into the learning experience. We strive to be innovative and excellent at what we do so you will need to be thoroughly acquainted with current trends in technology-enhanced learning and how these trends can be implemented. Most importantly, you will share our enthusiasm for online learning and our belief that technology can enhance education.

You will largely be working on MBA, MSc and UG programmes as well as Executive Education and MOOCs delivered by the Business School and therefore knowledge of, or an interest in, the subjects taught at a Business School would be advantageous, but not essential.

The Imperial College Business School is committed to innovation in the use of learning technologies on its programmes and all modules taught at the school now have an online component. The School is expanding rapidly and we offer a fast paced and stimulating working environment.

More detailed information on the role and the type of person we are looking for can be found in the person specification.
