Applications are invited for an exciting, open ended Careers Adviser post at Newcastle University. A key member of the Careers Service, you will work with students and other stakeholders to help deliver the university’s award winning employability and enterprise strategy. As part of your designated caseload you will have specific responsibility for supporting students in the Faculty of Medical Sciences as well as research staff from across the institution.

As a Careers Adviser your duties will include:

  • 1:1 careers guidance with students across all degree subjects alongside your designated School caseload;
  • developing and delivering innovative and interactive workshops centrally, in Schools and on modules;
  • establishing and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues across the university;
  • building occupational knowledge and developing relationships with employers;
  • leading on team, unit or service wide initiatives.

You must have a degree (or equivalent) and a professional qualification in careers guidance (or commitment to work towards one). Enterprising and self-motivated with personal impact, team and communication skills, you will have significant experience of 1-1 advice/guidance/coaching and of teaching, training or facilitating group work. You must be able to deal sensitively and productively with students, colleagues, and employers.
